Medanta Q2 Results: Co reports 4.5% jump in net profit to Rs 130.8 crore

Global Health (Medanta) reported a 4.5% year-on-year (YoY) jump in net profit to Rs. 130.8 crore in Q2FY25 due to increase in revenue growth from matured and new hospitals, along with higher patient volumes. The company net profit of Rs 125.2 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous year. On a quarter-on-quarter (QoQ) basis the net profit rose 23.1%. Revenue rose 12.7% YoY to Rs 975 crore.

The earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and ammortisation (EBITDA) rose 5.5% YoY to Rs 247 crore. EBITDA margins were at 25.3% in Q2 FY25. The company net cash surplus was at Rs. 719 crore at the end of September 30, 2024.

During the quarter, 52 beds were added at Lucknow and 66 beds at Patna resulting in total bed addition of 118 beds in Q2 FY25.

  • Average occupied bed days increased by 9.1% y-o-y, with occupancy of 64.3% on increased bed capacity.
  • In-patients count increased by 8.8% y-o-y; Out-patients count increased by 6.6% y-o-y.
  • Average revenue per occupied bed (ARPOB) marginally grew by 1.9% y-o-y to Rs. 62,140 in Q2 FY25 due to combination of tariff increase in matured facility and change in case mix across the group
  • Matured hospitals revenue was Rs. 688.2 crore, with a growth of 13.5% y-o-y and 7.8% on a q-o-q basis. EBITDA for matured hospitals was Rs. 174 crore, growth of 12.5% y-o-y and 9.4% on q-o-q basis
  • Developing hospitals revenue was Rs. 275.4 crore, growing 4.2% y-o-y and 16.2% on a q-o-q basis. During the second quarter, international patients revenue was Rs. 51.3 crore.
  • Average occupied bed days increased by 9% y-o-y, representing an occupancy of 59% in Q4FY24.
  • Average revenue per occupied bed (ARPOB) grew by 4% y-o-y to Rs 63,063.
  • In-patient volume increased by 10% and out-patient volume increased by 11% y-o-y.

Medanta has a net cash surplus of Rs. 772 crore as of March 31, 2024.Medanta has a network of five hospitals currently in operation in Gurgaon, Indore, Ranchi, Lucknow, and Patna having 3008 installed beds as on September 30, 2024. It also has one hospital under-construction in Noida.
