Shares of Bajaj Auto Ltd.(up 6.72 per cent), Hero MotoCorp Ltd.(up 3.57 per cent), Ashok Leyland Ltd.(up 0.68 per cent), Bosch Ltd.(up 0.55 per cent) and Eicher Motors Ltd.(up 0.14 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Sona BLW Precision Forgings Ltd.(down 1.64 per cent), Tube Investments of India Ltd.(down 1.07 per cent), Bharat Forge Ltd.(down 1.02 per cent), Balkrishna Industries Ltd.(down 0.43 per cent) and Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.(down 0.33 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Auto index closed 0.5 per cent up at 16618.0.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 46.4 points at 19624.7, while the BSE Sensex stood down 247.78 points at 65629.24.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 16 ended in the green, while 34 closed in the red.
Shares of JP Power, Vodafone Idea, NBCC , Suzlon Energy and IRB Infra Dev. were among the most traded shares on the NSE. Shares of Aban Offshore, Shakti Pumps, GKW Ltd, DB(Intl)Stock and BPL Ltd hit their fresh 52-week highs in today’s trade, while Gensol Engg, Delta Corp, Winsome Yarns, Tarsons Products and V Mart Retail hit their fresh 52-week lows.
