Shares of Bandhan Bank(up 0.51 per cent) and AU Small Finance Bank(up 0.32 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, ICICI Bank(down 2.22 per cent), State Bank of India(down 1.33 per cent), IndusInd Bank(down 1.21 per cent), Axis Bank(down 1.03 per cent) and Bank of Baroda(down 0.74 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Bank index closed 1.07 per cent down at 44513.45.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 144.9 points at 19381.65, while the BSE Sensex stood down 542.1 points at 65240.68.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 11 ended in the green, while 39 closed in the red.
Shares of Indian Railway Fin, Reliance Power, Vedanta, Zomato and Suzlon Energy were among the most traded shares on the NSE. Shares of Prakash Pipes, KSB, Jay Jalaram Tech, Indian Railway Fin and MPS Ltd hit their fresh 52-week highs in today’s trade, while ASL Industries, SMVD Poly Pack, Sintex Plastics Tech, Brookfield India Rea and UPL hit their fresh 52-week lows.
