India’s equity markets are currently under intense pressure, with the benchmark Nifty index falling a staggering 14% from its peak. The markets have experienced a rough start to 2025, with the Nifty down nearly 5% in the current year alone. This alarming decline has reverberated through various sectors, with several sectoral indices tumbling by as much as 20% in CY25. One of the hardest-hit sectors in this turbulent market is the Nifty Realty index, which has emerged as the top losing sector for CY25. The index has suffered a sharp drop, falling over 23%.
